Bio
I am an Electronic Engineer, graduated at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) in 1980. I worked for several companies in Rio de Janeiro, including UFRJ itself (at NCE), Dataprev, Datapoint, Medidata and Amplus (a now defunct network company). In 1990 I got a MSc degree in Systems Engineering at UFRJ, more specifically, at the Program of Systems Engineering and Computing (PESC), one of the graduate programs in COPPE. My MSc advisor was Dr Ronaldo Cesar Marinho Persiano (where are you Marinho?). Later, in 1995, I earned a PhD degree in Computer Science at University of Maryland, advised by Dr. Hanan Samet. I have been at UFRJ since 1989, first employed as an Engineer and later as a Professor at PESC, where I pursue my academic interests. These include all things related to Computer Graphics, such as rendering, animation, computational geometry, spatial databases, visualization and more. In 2021 I also joined UFRJ's Graduate Program in Design (PPGD) as a professor.
